Family Christening

I went to the christening on Sunday of the latest arrival in the Cotton family. Freddie, a bruiser weighing 18lbs at just 5 months was on his best behaviour. He certainly looked like a happy cherub in the traditional christening gown and never cried once during his head wetting. The service was full of joy and the priest was Father Jonathon who also happens to be a family member and was the great uncle to baby Freddie.

Back at the family home I produced the ‘Christening plate’ for guests and god parents to sign. I must say I was somewhat surprised by the response of the family who had not seen such a plate before and soon a queue was forming as everyone wanted to sign the plate.

To remind you the item is in our catalogue and is listed under code  K0260. (there are varieties such as the naming pate and 1^st birthday plate).

Family and friends sign the plate with the pen provided and if they make a mistake it is not a problem as it can be wiped off and done again. Then when everyone has signed and given their best wishes to the baby it can be left for 24 hours for the ink to dry. Finally it goes in the oven for about 1 ½  hours to bake it permanently as a wonderful keepsake for the baby when they are fully grown. Of course it also helps to keep the record of the date for future church needs and the attendees of the christening.

I thought I would write this blog because in my view it has always been the best present to give on the day and the memory is preserved forever.

Galloping along in the fast lane is the new catalogue due to come off the presses on August 20th and then the mailing begins. If you do not have you name and details on our database then you will not get a copy. Surprising isn’t it when you think you will get one and then remember you are not on the list because you picked up a copy somewhere, borrowed your friends, checked in on the internet. It’s a great catalogue and having your own copy is a must. They are free and there are many products which will surprise you and can make your life really easy.

Strange as it may seem on this hot sunny day it is a reminder that Christmas comes round very quickly. Obviously our new catalogue has a huge range of baby toys and you may well think to shop early and store them away so that the seasonal spree is budgeted early and you can concentrate on whether or not to have extra mince pies.

I mention mince pies as they are my favourite and have asked my local baker if he would consider making a batch early. And no I am not pregnant. I just love them and as the baker makes his mince around now, to mature in time for Christmas, he will often make a bakers dozen for me. Friends then miraculously pop round for tea and eat them all. It’s funny how friends seem to have the same favourite foods.

But back to the original thought of prompting people to get their names down for a catalogue, make sure you are going to get your copy.
